St Mary's Star of the Sea Church

This Roman Catholic Church was built in 1850 through the efforts of Rev. Bernard Mooney, the priest who was also at the centre of the Yelverton marriage. Originally there was a simple Mass House on the site. The church also contains the famous St. Bronach's Bell, which had been hidden for a thousand years inside an old tree and could be hear pealing on windy nights. It was only discovered when the tree finally fell.
